Hi-My husband and I are heading to Tenerife Sur in November for 6 months, spending most of the time in various timeshare resorts-Pearly Grey, Club La Costa, Maeva, Club Tenerife Diamante, and Apart. Tropical Park, to name a few (because we got a great deal on weekly rental). We are from the US and usually winter in Mexico, but want something different. I'm concerned these resorts are going to be far, far from the city center (Playas Las Americas and Cristianos) and that there won't be accessable public transportation, except taxi. Also worried there won't be many people at these resorts in low season and we'll be in a semi-deserted hotel with no activities, no entertainment, no people, etc. If anyone can clue me in on the scene, I'd sure appreciate it. I'm flying blind right now. Any timeshare resorts you would recommend? Thanks a bunch.

Have stayed at Club Tenerife with no problems. I have also stayed at the nearby sister resorts of Beverly Hills Heights & Hollywood Mirage both of which are superior in my opinion. These are in the area of Oasis del Sur in Los Cristianos about 15 minutes walk from the town centre. The return walk is uphill however and costs around 3 Euros by taxi.

We have stayed at quite a few timeshare resorts in Tenerife. Club la costa (we own there) Los Clavelas, Palm Beach, Royal Sunset Beach, Hollywood Mirage to name but a few. We have always had a great time and have been at different times of the year. I don't think it ever closes - plenty going on and easy to get around - transport, coach or taxis.

Because of the all year good weather many take advantage of this. Sure it is busier in the summer months and school holidays but there is always something going on.

We always go in February and its great

Lucky you to be going for 6 months - wish I was

Hi, I'm a Brit who now lives in Tenerife mainly because we have all year round sunshine. There is no such thing as a low season here, the tourists change, this time of year it is mainly Spanish, when you are coming it will be the Brits and Germans and those from the Nordic countries, Norwegeans, Swedish, Danes etc.

The weather will be great even in Jan & Feb it will average 68 degrees and there will be plenty of sun. My friends own an apartment in Los Diamantes and they are first class. I don't know the others you have mentioned. Diamantes overlooks Los Cristianos Harbour (beautiful views) and you can walk to the town centre in 5 minutes.

There are lots of buses between resorts and many of the timeshare complexes have courtesy buses that will take you from one resort to another.

I live in Chayofa (5 mins above Los Cristianos and Las Americas) and would recommend the timeshare that is at the edge of our village. It is the Chayofa Regency Club. Very exclusive and as it is newly opened you should get an excellent deal.

If you would like an insiders view on what to do, or just a friendly chat and some photos, email me (kew@delfinder.com) there are loads of lovely places to go and things to do.

Best regards, Meryl

Hi, lucky you heading to the sun for 6 months, I am an owner at Tropical Park in Calleo, I bought here about 5 years ago, Yes the resort is fairly quiet but i like it, there is entertainment on every day /night down by the pool, except Fridays as this is classed as changeover day, there is also entertainment in the upper bar Run by Monica and my friend Dawn who is the entertainer there. I am heading out there next week 30th June for 2 weeks with my partner and 2 kids. Although the resort of Calleo is small and not busy it is friendly and if you want to take things easy its the place to be. You can get a bus to almost anywhere if you choose from the bottom of the slight hill where the bus stop is. You have some great eating places in the villiage, I recommend Beckhams where Sheila and her team cook lovely dishes all from fresh produce. There is a buffet eat as much as you like Chinese at the bottom of the hill, Next door down the arcade to Beckhams is the Rat Pack owned by Ronnie and Shona from Ayr in Ayrshire Scotland near where I am from. There is also an Irish bar down at the bottom of the road turn left along the front next to the Red Lion ,great Irish music and again great food. If you want things a bit more lively you have the 3 horseshoes Karaoke bar at the bottom of the arcade open till 4am. Most pubs etc have live music quizes etc I am sure you will like. I have been in Tenerife at Christmas and New year and the atmosphere is brill... You will have to book probably if you wish to have a meal on 31st December as it will be very busy. My only complaint is that although the weather is lovely during the day I found it cold at night, to heat up the apartment believe it or not I had the oven on......... and never thought to take anything warm to wear with me ,a mistake I will not repeat.

I hope you have a great time in Calleo and would be interested to hear what you thought on your return.

Calleo Salvaje is a long way from Las Americas and Los Cristianos you would definately need a car.

I see you are staying in Los Diamantes, my friend has an apartment there which she rents out she will give you a good deal on a long term booking, (1 month or more) the apartment is currently free for a lot of the time you are visiting. The following link will take you to her property. If you should decide to book with her please let her know that Meryl recommended you.
