We are on a cruise and are in Tenerife from 9 to 5
Is there enought to see in that town or do we need to take a tour?

Hi Juliene
Tenerife is not a town......It is the name of one of the Canary Islands; and a very beautiful one.
To get an idea what Tenerife is all about go to the sticky at the top of the page, there is loads of information there.
As you are on a cruise; you will be arriving in the capital Santa Cruz..... As you are there for only a day I think it will be wise to take a tour, but go to the sticky first to understand which kind of tour will be of interest to you........
If you have any more questions then come back to us again.....

Is there enough to do in Santa Cruz since we are only there 8 hours? Would you suggest renting a car or just staying in Santa Cruz.
Thanks
Hi Juliene again,
You could stay in Santa Cruz if you like shopping.....but If was me that was staying only for 8 hours and you are asking our opinion lol! I would not hire a car for starters because you have no idea where to go and you will only waste time.......There are local buses but you don't have much time...
There must be a tour from your ship and if it were me I would take a tour to Orotava a beautiful town then on to Puerto de la Cruz...and on to Loro Park......I'm sure they will have such a tour arranged from your ship.
You could also do the Teide trip aswell if you have enough time......beleive me I am sending you to nice places....
Enjoy......Sylla
Hi Juliene
Sylla has given great advice on the places that are worth seeing and str relatively close to Santa Cruz. What day do you arrive - if it is a Sunday then we typically recognise the Sabbath as a "day of rest" so everywhere will be closed.
I am sure your cruise organiser is aware of these traditions and will offer services such as excursions that will help you make the most of your visit.
