We have only stayed bed and breakfast and there does not appear to be a dress code, not sure about lunch and evening meal times though

B & B was fine, but looking at the recent reviews the restaurant seems to get really busy for other dining times. There is a good selection of breakfasty food. Yes, there are some good restaurants and tapas bars nearby. Check out the reviews for La Cacerola on here, it is not far from Cervantes, turn right on Calle San Miguel, up to main road, across and it is on left hand side in little pedestrian area, opposite the Galloping Major bar.

Also try along the front towards Benalmadena there are nice fish restaurants. Depends what you are looking for as nightlife but there always seems to be something open around the square off Calle San Miguel

We are going later today but couldn't get into the Cervantes this time

Lots of good eating places nearby - Matahambre (almost opposite) is extremely popular. La Bodega on San Miguel has lovely tapas. La Chacha for all your gambas needs.

Go down to the paseo and walk along to La Carihuela for lunch, more places than you could posibly need to choose from there.

I have stayed in Cervantes on several occasions and dress code would be fairly relaxed and though sign at restaurant door states no shorts at dinner I never saw this being enforced .I found the best eating places along seafront but a little more expensive and a long trek uphill or taxi ride after lift to beach closes early at night. The best selection of restuarants are in La Carihuela where you will be spoiled for choice.
