New Renfe fares from 8th February

From 8th February onwards there will be a new fare structure for Renfe tickets. The best discount will be 70% for "Web" fares, only available online, valid only for the train(s) you book and not transferable, refundable or exchangeable.

The cheapest fares will now be as follows (available in limited numbers, of course):

Madrid - Sevilla €22.65

Madrid - Girona €32.90

Zaragoza - Madrid €16.40

Barcelona - Madrid €32.00

Madrid - Valencia €21.70

Barcelona - Córdoba €34.55

Málaga - Barcelona €35.05

Figueres - Madrid €33.00

Sevilla - Valencia €27.80

Sevilla - Puertollano €21.00

Albacete - Madrid €13.35

Ciudad Real - Madrid €11.15

Madrid - Cuenca €9.05

Using 9th April as an example, there are a fair few Barcelona - Córdoba Promo fares available at €34.55, and Promo+ at €40.30, RENFE have said that they are introducing a low-cost airline approach to Promo fares (i.e. infuriatingly annoying - cheaper tickets always appearing just after you've bought some!) so maybe these have appeared since 8th Feb.

They are for the early morning and late afternoon trains though, not the ones at more convenient times of the day.

Appreciated NSG - but our tickets are for 08:30 on 30 April. I realise there is really no logical explanation for fare discounting - but thought it was worth mentioning that sometimes a low fare is not the lowest fare!! But I am happy with what I have - roll on Cordoba! Looking forward to the Feria Crucis (?) and the Patio festival too! Maybe the fares are priced to meet those events?

And thanks too to Malagogo - that makes sense. As I said, there is no real logic to discounts - just the marketing benefit of offering them in whatever number and at whatever time the marketing department thinks would work best.
