The Benefit of the Recent Rains

The reservoirs in the Province of Malaga are now 80% full and we will have enough rain for next summer. This is also good for agriculture, since last year was a dry year. So the inconvenience of the rainy days is made up by the wide benefits of having more water.

There were disbenefits of the rain!

We took a taxi from the Barcelo Hotel to the Glass and Crystal Museum on Saturday morning. Had to abandon the taxi in a traffic jam because of the flooding and spent an hour trying to find our way across. When we arrived, the owner, looking harassed, apologised and told us the Museum would be closed for 2 days because of the floods. Another time.

We walked back as the flood subsided and saw houses, hotels, shops and cars that had been damaged. It wasn't a pretty sight.

What was a pretty sight was seeing the river full of fast-flowing water.

Bathman1:

This morning I saw that the Guadalmedina River is flowing from bank to bank. I suspect that the reservoir upstream is allowing water to discharge so that the reservoir does not overflow. This is something we seldom see.
