Hi, just put the following message on the Frankfurt forum with a bit of a mixed response

______________________________________

Hi, can someone tell me if Frankfurt would be suitable fot a Stag party. Around a dozen Scottish lads looking to travel early March next year (aged 25-35)

All we are looking for is plenty of pubs, clubs and nice women! The usual...lol

Also, is Frankfurt reasonably priced for food and drink? How much will your average pint set you back.

We've looked at other German city's but flights to Frankfurt are cheapest by far and direct from Glasgow Prestwick.

So what's our best bet for s Stag - Dusseldorf or Frankfurt?

Cheers!

Flying with Rynair means

Frankfurt = Hahn (125 km west of Frankfurt)

Düsseldorf = Weeze (80 km west of Düsseldorf)

Düsseldorf is famous for its pubs in the Altstadt (old city) serving Altbier.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altbier

Frankfurt is more famous for its apple wine. The apple wine pub district is in Sachsenhausen opposite the river Main of the Altstadt.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apfelwein

Real apple wine pubs don't serve beer at all.

Both cities are rather rich business orientated cities. Not many tourists apart from business travelers there. The last thing any better club there is looking for would be a stag party.

Price level: both cities are among the most expensive ones in Germany. Still reasonable if you come from Scotland. Esp. alcoholic beverages.

Accommodation: esp. over weekends (= few business travelers) you can find good deals. It there is a bigger trade fair accommodation will become really expensive.

Hi,

why don't you fly from Glasgow to Berlin (Schoenefeld) with easy jet? Also direct and also cheap.

Plus Berlin will be so much more fun than either Frankfurt or Duesseldorf!

That's a bit worrying. Are you staying a stag party would be unwelcome in Frankfurt or Dusseldorf? We're past the rowdy teenager stage and aren't the type of group that will cause trouble or offence to anyone.

We'd looked at Berlin but flights are twice the price of Frankfurt/Dusseldorf, same with Hamburg which would be our preference.

Thanks for the advice, gives us something to think about.

> aren't the type of group that will cause trouble or offence to anyone.

But as this is not the case with all groups, stag tours get quite a negative press in Germany.

There are fewer places in Germany for which stag parties are a business model like in some places in Eastern Europe. In Germany the spending power gap between the locals and stag party guests is much smaller than there. And if a place accepts stag parties not just occasionally this will mean fewer local guests. Most Germans don't understand people who don't know when to stop drinking.

With clubs admission of a group of 12 men is generally a problem. Also for locals. The clubs don't want that the share of females drops too low. This leads only to trouble. Exception if the girls are professionals and trained to transform the shortage of girls into higher spendings by the lads.

Do you think Cologne may be a better option for us? I see it's not too far from Dusseldorf and appears to be more suitable for a stag party.

Problem is our flight would get into Weeze at 23.40. Could we still get a train to Cologne that late at night and how long would it take?

Thanks for the help.

Cologne would be indeed better in my view.

That late train is no option. Neither to Düsseldorf nor to Cologne. You have to use the shuttle buses (which stops first in Düsseldorf, than in Cologne).

According to that the last bus is at midnight? Any other options for getting to Cologne? If our flight was delayed we'd be screwed? lol

Private transfer?

> If our flight was delayed we'd be screwed?

No. As Weeze airport is nearly only used by Ryanair these buses won't ignore if the last Ryanair flight is late.

It makes no sense for these shuttle buses to drive empty to Düsseldorf/Cologne. Without paying customers?
