I'll be in Frankfurt for one night and am deciding between the Steinberger Frankfurter Hof and the Hotel Hessischer Hof. I am a big fan of old world luxury. Has anyone stayed at either? Feedback would be appreciated. I'll be arriving by train at about 13.00 and will be flying out the next morning. I'd like to do a quick shopping expedition. Is one more convenient than the other? Also, if I take the U-Ban to either hotel, are there escalators or will I have to deal with steps and Luggage. Thanks!!!

Frankfurter Hof!

Much better location, U-Bahn station Willy Brandt Platz just outside (no escalators but I think there's an elevator). Walking distance to the shopping streets. Real old world charme and plenty of VIPs.

Hessischer Hof is close to the fairgrounds just at a 6 lanes boulevard. No shopping and nothing else nearby.

Thanks Andreas. That's what I thought. The Steinberger Frankfurter Hof it is!... One more silly question... Will be easier to walk to the hotel than to take the U-Ban one stop? Lizzie-

It is about a less than 10 mins walk, rather straight forward. BUT unfortunately for the first couple of blocks you'd be walking straight thru the red light district. It's not dangerous, at least not during the day. Question is how comfortable you'd be with that idea...
