Day Trips - Hamburg, Dresden and Cologne

Hi

my husband and daughter are coming o Berlin in a few weeks. We would like to make a few day trips.

I think Hamburg will take 90 mins and Dresden 2 hours - does anyone know how much the tickets are?

Also how long would it take to go to Cologne?

thanks

For train fares have a look at

http://www.bahn.de

>> Internat. Guests

If you travel on a weekend you can get a 50 % discount. But you have to book in advance, there's a limited amount of tickets and you have to take the specific trains you've booked.

For flights from Berlin to Cologne try

Berlin to Cologne is certainly not a day trip. Plan 4 h one-way even with flying, or 4 h 15 min for the train. You won't have much time there.

The prices for the trains are to be found at www.bahn.de, as the previous poster mentioned.

There are cheap flights to Cologne/Bonn airport from lots of English airports so I'd suggest doing that as a different trip (flights prob. cheaper than train too!).

Nearer day-trip from Berlin that is a MUST is Potsdam.

Your right Dresdan is only 2hr train ride from Berlin.Went in May enjoyed the city. Walk to the top of church in the center of town. The view is fantastic but the stairs are a killer.
