Airport to city by train

What is the cost of the train from the airport to city or is there a better way to go such as taxi?

Also, we are only there for two n other so would like to stay in the midst of tourist attractions and close to restaurants, etc. Ideas?

Train to Passau would be our next jaunt.

U-Bahn (metro) line U2 gets you straight from the terminal into the old city center. Single ticket is EUR 2,40. Such a ticket is good to reach any place in Nuremberg using any combination of means of local public transport you may need for this. Covered are regional trains, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses.

DB timetable

Start: Nürnberg Hbf

Destination: Passau Hbf

For cheap tickets you may want to buy tickets in advance (possible from 92 days in advance) or use regional trains. Select for the latter option as means of transport "only local transport". The cheap specials (Bayern Ticket) for the regional trains can be bought on spot. And the Bayern Ticket covers also all local public transport in Nuremberg and Passau. Something a normal point-to-point train ticket does not.

I wouldn't bother with the subway as a taxi to the city center is onlyabout Euro 15.-
