Legoland

How long should one plan to visit Legoland? How far is it from Munich? Can anyone tell me about Beachtersgartin National Park (sp). How much time does one need to tour around Fussen? Is this enroute to Mittenwald? Help I am geographically challenged and can't find my atlas!

Legoland is in Günzburg, between Augsburg and Ulm.

Füssen and Berchtesgaden are the terminal stations of branch lines.

Not really. Definitly not by public transport. But also by car travelling along/through the Alps in west-east direction is time consuming.

Any big bookstore has good regional maps of Germany, so you need no longer be "geographically challenged". Even the Automobile Club maps are not bad.

Well, Legoland is about 120km (1hr30min)West of Munich, Fussen is about 150km (2hr)SW, Berchtesgaten is about 160km (2hr)SE, and Mittenwald is about 100km (1.5hr) South.

You can do a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, then by way or Lermoos and Garmisch to Mittenwald and then back to Munich as one long day trip. Better trip might be Fussen (to see Neuschwanstein Castle), then head south to Reutte, turn east along the Plansee to the Linderhof Palace, then return to Munich, maybe stopping to admire the beautiful buildings in Oberammergau.
