One Night in St Etienne

We're planning a driving holiday in France in March.

I like the idea of stopping one night in St Etienne (rather than nearby Lyon, which I've not heard good things about).

We're thinking of staying at Hotel du Midi.

Have we made the right choices?

I would love to get feedback from somebody who knows the area well.

Thanking you in anticipation.

1. Re: One Night in St Etienne

St Etienne is a rather uninspiring industrial town.

Lyon is a lovely town to explore if staying in the middle - however there are some lovely towns and villages in pretty countryside around Lyon.

Not sure which route you are taking or heading to/from but if you are following the normal tourist route down the A6/A7 St Etienne is a far detour from the main route

Thank you very much for your advise boucheboy.

We'll now take a further look at hotels in Lyon.
