Hi. We'll be in the area in a couple of weeks. I have a few questions on the perfume tours. Are the tours also in the English language; do they need to be booked in advance; is one better than any other; is there a hard sell at the end and finally, are they worth going out of your way to see? We're by no means perfume connoisseurs, just a family looking for things to do.

Hi Brigadoon - My family of 2 adults and 3 teenage children visited Grasse this August and went on one of the tours. We visited the 'Perfumerie Galimard' in Grasse but there are others. Yes, the tours are in English (we had a lady from Belgium giving us a tour in English, just after she had completed a tour in German and she spoke to the staff in French so you will have no trouble.). I don't believe you need to book as the tours run continuously and are free.

When you arrive they ask you to wait in the shop (no surprise why!) and then the tour 15-20 mins ends in the shop where you can just say no but we felt 'obliged' to buy a small selection 10-20 euros.

We are also not perfume experts but it was interesting but not a half day outing in Grasse.

Hope this helps.
