Please help! is there any car hire companies available at Avignon airport as there are 8 adults arriving Saturday 1st June at 17.00 we need a car/mini bus for the 8 of us( 4 elderly) for one week, returning to the airport on 8th June at 16.00. I can't seem to find any hire compaines at the airport? can anyone help? many thanks!

You are going to struggle to find a vehicle for 8 people and luggage. You will likely need 2 vehicles.
Of course there are car hire outfits at the airport. Have you contacted AutoEurope or Kemwel or EuropCar or Hertz or Avis, etc.? That's where you start.
And 8 of you with luggage aren't likely going to be able to fit into one vehicle, even a 9-passenger van, which is the largest you're going to find. You're going to need two vehicles

The best bet is to make the booking at Avignon TGV station that has long opening hours, and get the driver(s) to take a taxi to pick up the rental and come back for you.
You'd think the car hire companies would consider being open when planes land .....
It looks like Avis, Europcar and National provide cars at the airport but don't have a presence there. They will deliver a car to the airport if they have a booking.
For your dates and times they will deliver a car to the airport for pick up but you may have to return it to the rail station.
Alternatively there seems to be mention of a drop off box for keys from one of the providers at least.
I would give Auto-europe a call as a starting point and contact Europcar which seems to be providing a quote for actual details
