Arles/Nimes

I had planned this trip years ago, then got laid off from my job!

So being a little lazy...will research more..trip is not until Sept...but just preliminarily asking about best travel from/to Paris, how much time to spend, where to stay? Nice inexpensive hotels? Travel btw the two cities?

Thanks!

Thanx!

To travel to either Nimes from Paris, the train is the easiest if not cheapest method. PREM or iDTGV fares are often available for around 20€ each way when purchased 90 days in advance on one of the following websites:

www.voyages-sncf.com (in French only)

www.tgv-europe.com

You can travel by train or bus between the two cities.

Although there are direct TGV trains between Arles and Paris, it is not actually on the dedicated high speed line. The trains use the old line along the Rhone Valley. This means that they take longer than the TGVs to/from Nimes which are on the high speed line virtually all the way. This may affect your planning.
