My husband and I are attempting to plan a "last minute" trip to Provence during the last week of March/first week of April, looking to stay seven days/six nights. I think we are to the point where we have over researched and am looking for some guidance on where to stay.
Initially we were thinking of doing two nights in Arles, two in Avignon and then two in Nice. However, I am wondering, if Arles and Avignon are close enough together that it would make more sense to just stay in Avignon. We will be renting a car, and have every intention of driving and exploring all the sites and towns. We are city people, and love wine and food. That said, we are very interested in visiting the vineyards, which brings me to the question of whether we would should maybe stay a couple nights in Vaison la Romaine, which I seem to understand is a good central location to the vineyards.
Of course last night, as we continued to research, we started reading about Lyon and started to wonder if we should do a couple nights there? Or just stick to Provence, as originally planned.
All in all, you can tell that we have great intentions, just need some help narrowing down the best places to stay. Also, we will be there over Easter, so any advice on what may close would be helpful as well.
