we'll be hiring an apartment but they seem to be a bit scattered. Is the Faubourg the 'old town' and how far (and uphill) are the villas outside the main part?
The Faubourg is the part of town along and around the road to Port-Vendres. See on google map : when you reach Collioure coming from Perpignan, you turn left to get to the old town (in the direction of the church) and you continue straight ahead if you want to go to Port-Vendres. It is bordered by the largest beach.
How far and uphill are the villas depend on their address.
Thank you Pvoyageuse. Is there much of a difference between the Faubourg and the old town or are they too close to be that different?
They are close to each other. The Faubourg is also old, a bit less compact than the center of the village. It is also probably quieter than the old part which has very narrow streets and lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The new modern developments/villas are located uphill.
great - thanks again for your helpful advice.
Hubs & I would like to try cross-country skiing in the Pyrenees. Where would it be best to reserve a room or apartment - are there any convenient rental places where we can practically walk out in our skiis?? We prefer contemporary accomodation with all its comfort! Thanks
