1. Re: Were to stay?

Can you post the links?

Both locations are relatively central; first one is nearer the Seine river in Latin Quarter - very active area.

2. Re: Were to stay?

There are over 10,000 bistros and restaurants in central Paris. You would have to look hard to find an area that does not have plenty of them.

I would choose the second one, as it would be marginally easier to get to the sights: have a look at a map of Paris.

EDIT. I was typing at the same time as Tesa227, and our responses just go to show that there is no answer to the question about the "best" place to stay. Everyone has their own favourite part of Paris.

3. Re: Were to stay?

Please do post the links. Apartments are not always as advertised. Sometimes locations are interpreted very liberally.

It is true that everyone has his own preferred area to stay. I'm not crazy about the Horloge area because it's very modern looking and because it's right behind the Pompidou, which is an area I find overwhelmingly crowded--many tourists with backpacks, etc. Just not my favorite vibe.

But definitely central--no disagreement there.

5. Re: Were to stay?

1. good size 50m2 on the 3rd floor with a lift. Balcony. But looks smaller than 50m2. I would question the size.

2. good location (5th arrondissement) 45m2 but on the 3rd floor, 4th by our standards - no mention of a lift, so lots of stairs which I wouldn't recommend, but 2 bedrooms

3. small 30m2, bed against the wall, but 1st floor (our 2nd) and no washing machine

4. Really a studio, 5th floor (6th) with no lift 40m2

I wouldn't rent any of these. Try allparisapartments. I have used them in the past and have booked my next apartment in June/July this year with them.

I liked # 2 from post #4. It is 3 floor walk-up, 4th American, I assume doable, but lack of reviews is worrying.

In post #6 I don't understand charge of E 100 at check-in for a contact phone number.
