American military cemeteries in France are all closed.

Please note that during the US government shutdown, all of the military cemeteries are closed. Anybody making a battlefield trip to Normandy during this period will not be able to visit the cemetery in Colleville. While the cemetery is not fenced on the ocean side, anybody coming up from the beach will be asked to leave.

Good idea to post here K2. Here's a link to a thread on the Normandy forum: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187179-i607-k6886…

Anyway, even if the Normandy cemetery is the most visited, a number of Americans make a trip to the cemetery in the Paris suburb of Suresnes to see the 1200 or so soldiers interred there -- closed also, of course.

If there's someone "on duty" to tell you to leave, then why can't there be someone "on duty" to let you in?
