1) It might come in handy to know the actual name of the area you will be staying in: it's not "halle de chatelet", it's "Châtelet-Les Halles". But it's only a métro/RER station, the neighborhood of your hotel is called Châtelet.

2) In a 500 m radius, there are about 200 cafés and 120 restaurants, so with a bit of flair and the pleasure of discovery, you won't be hard pressed to find a good place. My advice is to keep as far away from the river as possible, also avoid the pedestrian Les Halles area. My best bet in this area would be to head to rue Montorgueil, IMHO the most charming pedestrian street in Paris, strangely ignored by people on this forum. It is a trendy/neighbourhood feel place lined with cafés and/or restaurants, all with terraces, which is quite nice if you are visiting in the summer months. You can also walk to Le Marais, which is awash with good restaurants, albeit a bit touristy, but it's still manageable (plenty of threads on Le Marais + restaurants).

If you absolutely want to do like everybody else on this forum, ie patronize the restaurants in the Ile Saint-Louis, 5th and 6th, it's within walking distance too. And there are plenty of recommendations on this board.

If you have more specific types of cuisines/restaurants, please express yourself! It's easier to answer to more focused questions.
