Beginning March 2, the Hotel de Ville in Paris will have an exhibition that traces the history of haute couture. Here is a story about it:
Thank you! I'll probably check it out. And isn't there a museum of fashion near the Louvre? Also, how is the perfume museum..is it worth visiting?
I'm so bummed, it ends 4 days before I land.
I think you're referring to the Musee des arts Decoratifs, which is housed in the same building as the Louvre. Currently they have an exhibition on French fashion, but it ends in April (rats!). But do visit the museum; there will be other parts you find interesting, I hope. Here is their website:
I'd dearly love to see this exhibit. It's not to be though...
Terrific article. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for the link. This was already on my list for May but am even more interested now that I know more about it.
Please report back with impressions after you've seen it.
A very helpful post, French Twinkie. I didn't know about this exhibition and have added it to my list of "must sees" in a couple of weeks. I wonder if there will be a really long wait to get into the exhibition. Guess I'll find out soon enough.
Oh goodie...I'm going! Thanks Twinkie!
I suspect there will be long lines. It is a free exhibition, and most shows at the Hotel de Ville draw huge crowds. Alas.
Thrilled - and will be ready for long lines (we're staying close by, maybe can get there early or late).
Here is a 4-minute video interview with the the curator of the exhibition.
