 Musical Fountains in Paris?

While reading the thread here about remembering your first trip to Paris, I began to reminisce. I'm just not sure if one of my memories is quite clear. When I first went to Paris in my early twenties (almost 20 years ago) I was with a tour group, and we were taken to many sites on our first evening. I remember going to a wonderful fountain that was all lit up - perhaps Place de la Concorde? There was classical music being played at the fountain. This would have been in early July, so I'm not sure if it was for a special occasion or if this was typically done (it was too early for Bastille Day). I know there are musical fountain displays at Versailles - are there any in Paris?

Several years ago I saw a "Water Ballet" at La Defense featuring Daphnis and Chloe by Maurice Ravel. The fountain display (constructed for that purpose) mirrored the intensity of the music and also used colored lights to enhance the experience. I'm looking through photos now to find some I took of this wonderful "show."

It's certainly possible that there was some sort of special musical fountain display when you visited last. But these days, the only regular musical fountain displays are the seasonal (late-March-thru-late-October) Les GRANDES EAUX MUSICALES.

Thank you all for your responses! Joan, it was definitely in July that I went but very good to know about June 21 for future trips.

PATestore, that sounds quite like what I had seen. The lights were coloured and I believe they were moving with the music, so perhaps it was a "water ballet"!

Thanks for the link KDKSAIL. We were fortunate enough to see the musical fountains at Versailles this past August and really enjoyed them!
