 Paris Park and Ride?

I'll have my family (6 in total) and a 'people carrier' car in the Berny-Riviere site in Compiegne north of Paris. We'd like to get into Paris 1-2 days during the week we are there. There are bus links and trains but all look expensive as there are 6 of us.

(But everyone says 'don't drive in Paris').

When we go down to London we find somewhere to park on the outer edge of the underground network and then get the Tube in to the city on a day-ticket. I'm sure this will work out cheaper for us visiting Paris too, and gives us more flexibility re return times, etc (and the kids sleep well in the car).

Have never been to Paris though. Can anyone suggest where to aim for when approaching from the North - to get close enough that it's not too far in on the Metro, but not too close that driving becomes a nightmare. (Don't mind how much parking costs). Thanks.

Hi acig12,

I'm not a local but I hope I have some information for you.

Map of P+R in Ile-de-France:

I suggest to use the P+R (free parking/~100 spaces) at the station "La Courneuve 8 Mai 1945" at the nordeast end of metro line 7.

It's close to autoroute A1 from/to Compiegne as you can see on the google map here:

(green arrow at the P+R)

This metro station is a little bit outside of Paris but you can use the cheapest tickets avaible for the ride to Paris - day ticket "mobilis zone 1/2" (5,60 per person) or single fare tickets (carnet of ten 11,10/5,55 for children under 10 years).

Fantastic, I am doing the exact same thing with the same numbers as the OP. I understand tickets and prices have changed since the original post - how would this affect the journey now?

Thanks Kindly
