One Day in Tours!

How would you suggest two active seniors spend one day in Tours? The two of us are staying in a private home. We will not have a car. We are not big into museums and like being active and outside. One of us walks with a cane . Thanks!

That's a difficult one, Carol: Tous can be really busy, like any sizeable city. There are some pleasant grassed areas but I don't know it well enough to advise. I do recommend the old part of town though and, if you can afford it, a meal outside (if the weather allows) or, at least, a drink.

Hi there, if you haven't already been to Tours by the time I post this, I'd suggest seeing cathedral st gatien (spell check). Definitely the old town area where the square is. The old German buildings are charming and the restaurants are lovely. Also along the main streets there are some lovely bars and shops. If you take a bus to Chateau du Chambord, you will NOT be disappointed :)

Difficult call - Tours isn't really that "outdoor activity friendly" until you're away from the city itself. Unless you're into walking streets (it has its appeal, but they really aren't all that special) your best bet is either the island (ile Simon ) or catching a bus or train to either Chenonceau or Villandry.

Tours does actually have a really nice chateau in a great garden - but it's almost impossible to get to by public transport domainecande.fr/en/…a-little-history.html
