Flat in Burgundy |
|
Hello everyone, I tried to post a review of the flat my husband and I stayed in during our honeymoon, but since it is a rental flat and not a hotel Tripadvisor doesn't allow me to post a review and suggested that I post my review in a forum.
My husband and I stayed at a flat, Myhomeindijon.com, for 5 nights on our honeymoon and it was wonderful! We were greeted by Corinne, the owner, at the train station. She proceeded to give us both a driving and walking tour of the city. The flat is a studio, but with enough space for a separate sleeping and living room area, a TV/DVD player (and a wide selection of videos), a computer with internet access, small kitchen, and separate toilet and bath. Corinne stocked the fridge and left us with regional goodies, fresh fruits, hot brownies, a bottle of wine, and fresh flowers. It was very nice to be able to sightsee, but then come back to someplace so homey to relax. We also saved a lot of money by cooking some meals ourselves. Overall we thought that Dijon was a very nice, affordable city. It was easy to get to Beaune and Gevery-Chambertin for wine tastings, too. I found out about myhomeindijon on the Fodor's chatboard just by chance, so I thought that I'd pass the info along. It was a wonderful experience. -rmreiman

I cannot second this recommendation strongly enough. Myhomeindijon.com is a wonderful spot. After four days cycling through the vinyards of the Cote de Beaune, Corinne's lovely spot was a relaxing oasis. As charming as Dijon is we rarely wanted to leave the flat. From the greeting at the train station, with fresh baguette in hand, to the well stocked kitchen and beautiful flat, it was a fantastic weekend. Russell Field

I am glad to read such good reviews. I will post my review here when I come back from France in April. I will stay at her flat for 3 days before heading to a language program in Provence. PJ

Better late than never. I promised to post a review on the flat in myhomeindijon. I have been back from France for over 2 weeks but got busy with different things. I went straight from Paris to Dijon the day I arrived. Coco picked me up. She will provide that service, if you come by train and has no transportation. Actually, the train station is about 15 minutes to the flat, walking without any luggages. The flat is first class. It has that home feeling. She furnished it with quality items all the way down to the dishes in the kitchen. TV with all channels you care for. Computer with free internet access. Free usage of telephone for all calls in France. Fridge loaded with items for breakfast and extras, like several kinds of cheese for me and fruits. I did not do any cooking at the flat except making coffee. I stayed there for 4 days. The first day I went walking in the rain checking out Dijon. I had jet lag real bad that I could not sleep at night. The next day the sum came out, Coco took me for a ride in the wine country. That was very nice of her. The next day I took a day trip to Besançon. It was a good day. I really enjoyed my time in Burgundy, especially the hospitality from Coco and my stay in her flat. BTW, the flat is very convenient to all sights in Dijon because it is in the centreville. I will be back rain or shine. A bientôt.

We also stayed in the lovely apartment in Dijon and plan to return. We highly recommend it and also recommend staying in Dijon. It is a delightful city and we were able to walk to everything in the historic part of town from the apartment. Pelican5

how are you able to reserve this flat - after visiting the website I couldn't find where you would make a reservation - we will be going to Dijon in September of 2007. thanks for your help

There is the link for Description and Rates. At the bottom of that link is a telephone number, mobile phone and an address in France. Corrine is fluent in English if you want to call. Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi, I just double checked the site but it must be down right now because it would not come up. If I remember correctly, there is a place to send an e-mail to Coco. It looks like a pen with the feather at the end. When you click on it, the email will come up. If you still have problem, let me know. I will give you her e-mail address. When are you going in September? We tentatively planned for that month also. This time I will take my husband along and we will hang out in the flat in Dijon. I am waiting to see the dates of the food and wine festival. You will enjoy Dijon and the surrounding area, especially the flat and the landlady.

Hi everyone, Pelican just to let you know I sent you some emails a few days ago and all I got is a warning message. Yahoo seems to have a problem. Hope you'll get them soon! :-) à bientôt!

The flat sounds charming. Since it is near the center of town, is there convenient parking nearby for a rental car?
