First time at Bordeaux |
|
When I last visited Bordeaux I bought a day ticket for the trams and buses and just rode around a few hours looking at things. If you see something you like, you can get off and have a walk then back on again! One museum you will I think find interesting is the official museum (Centre Jean Moulin) to the French Resistance of World War 2. There will be matters in common with the occupation of Greece. I spent an informative afternoon there when it was raining. For this and more visit www.bordeaux.fr

Bordeaux is a beautiful city, but 15 days there without a car? There isn't alot of public transport outside the city, so to really see much you would want to rent a car, at least for a few days. That said, the Bordeaux tourist office offers day tours by bus of different vineyard areas several days a week. On the tourist office website, I believe there is also a taxi service that will take you out to various vineyards. Hope you have a great trip. I'd try to offer more help, but we usually stay at B&B's in the countryside, as we're a bit older and not looking for city nightlife.

Nightlife is not my first priority, staying a few days on the country side would be great for me,if you can make some recomandations of nice pansions to spend 2-3 days would be great,i think renting a car is a must as you said,i would like a pansion midle priced but something old and historic..Seems that the country next to the city is a must, the organize excursions seems also nice option. I apreciate you help!!

I'd be happy to help you with ideas on B&B's outside Bordeaux and places to see. The Dordogne Valley is about a 3 hour drive east of Bordeaux. It's filled with prehistoric caves and medieval castles & villages. Between there and Bordeaux is the town and wine region of St. Emilion. Closer to Bordeaux there are castles, village markets, and wineries also. Please email me at: diane@westwindtours.us to let me know what your interests are, and I'll give you some B&B's to try, and sights to visit along the way.
