Sligo Easter

Hi all,

Booked a few days in sligo from 17th to 20th April.

Staying strandhill lodge on the Thursday and then the glass house Friday and Saturday.

Where would you recommend for eating at strandhill? Also on Good Friday is the only place for a drink the hotel bar or do restaurants also Erie if eating? Are most places closed on Good Friday?

On the Saturday in sligo town where would be nice to eat out?

Any recommendations on what we should do and see while in Sligo?

Thanks for help

Hi Paul

For such a small place there is actually lots of choice in terms of eating out in Strandhill. Next to your hotel is The Venue which is a really nice bar and they have a good restaurant (great steaks) too. If you are booking a table ask for one at the back of the dining room which has a big window overlooking the Golf

Course and on down to the sea. You could also walk down to the seafront where The Strand Bar is great (my favourite) they do good food in the bar and there are also 2 separate restaurants upstairs, Tra Ban and a really good Chinese restaurant called Jade Garden.

Shells Cafe is also along the seafront and is lovely for breakfast, lunch or a snack during the day.

In terms of things to do in .Strandhill, you could have a seaweed bath, play a round of golf on the wonderful links course, take a surfing lesson (there are a few surf schools), hike to the top of Knocknarea mountain, or just walk for miles along the seashore.

There is always a great atmosphere in Sligo at Easter with lots of visitors coming for The Feis Ceoil and also for Thewest of Ireland Golf tournament out at Rosses Point. Also lots of choice in terms of eating out in Sligo town depending on what you fancy. There is a new little Italian restaurant open down near the Garavogue (accross from your hotel) that is meant to be great, Mont Martre French restaurant in the Market Yard has been going strong for many years and is popular for a special meal. You must try some ice-cream from Fabios on

Wine Street, not far from your hotel - delicious homemade Italian ice cream.

Hope this helps! Have fun!
