Hi Cosmo -
The Clarion is nice, the Sarsfield Bridge is OK. I think we can get a compromise. Jury's Inn is just off the Shannon Bridge coming into Limerick. Anybody we know who has stayed there finds it very nice. I think you should get a good rate there.
My recommendation is Clonshire Equestrian Centre. It has a very good recommendation. http://www.clonshire.com/
However, there are other equestrial centres in the region:
shannonregiontourism.ie/category_results.asp… Just remember that Limerick Equestrian Centre is Closed.
I think you would be better travelling to the equestrial centre from the city, rather than vice versa.
My suggestion is to either go to Adare Manor Equestrian Centre or Clonshire. Take the bus out to Adare (www.buseireann.ie - busses run from Limerick to Adare every 1/2 hour or so) and then get a taxi to Clonshire
Adare Cab & Minibus Svce, 5 , Abbeyville Adare (061) 396777. Adare Taxi Service, Adare (087) 9911675. or walk to Adare Manor Equestrian Centre.
Places to go in Limerick:
Clohessy's Bar (Claw's) and the Sin Bin Nite Club (about 2 minutes walk along the quay towards Sarsfield Bridge from Jury's Inn) Dolans Warehouse (about 2 minutes walk in the other direction from Jury's - desk will point it out to you. ) Both can be seen pretty much from the front door of Jury's
Alternatively head over to Lockes Bar, Moll Darbys and the Trinity Rooms - all massed within 30 seconds of each other on either side of Matthew Bridge.
Check out www.limerickpost.ie for details of the latest live gigs (usually in Dolans)
Hope this helps. Leitrim and Limerick are confusing, particularly with the issues of the river Shannon.
Get back if you need more help. Otherwise have a fab trip and let us know how you got on when you get back.
