Best airport to use?

Is Shannon the closest airport to Galway for a flight from Liverpool?

Roughly how long does it take to get to hotels in the centre of Galway?

There are 4 of us going and we would want to get to Galway ASAP as the flight I've seen to Shannon lands at 9pm, what's the best transport to use?

Thanks in advance... Laura

yes Shannon is the nearest airport to Galway , but that flight is late getting in for you to get to Galway. We use to fly into Shannon until Ryanair changed the flight times. You can fly from Liverpool to Dublin at 8am and go by bus to Galway you will be there before 2pm

Could you get a flight from Manchester instead?

The flight from Manchester arrives in early and you could get a bus very quickly up to Galway from Shannon Airport. It would be easier than messing about with getting in to Dublin from Dublin Airport and getting a bus from there.

I know there are very regular busses from Liverpool Airport to Manchester Airport.

when are you looking at? Ryanair Liverpool SNN is off for the winter shedule I just flew Aer Lingus SNN MAN.and am rail and sail back on Thursday. Liverpool Knock is an option but check the bus times on Bus Eireann The late Liverpool SNN flight is a bind as you can only get to Ennis or Limerick by bus at that time.

there are direct buses from Dublin Airport to Galway if it is any use. Otherwise the suggestion of flying from Manchester and taking Bus Eireann route 51 from Shannon to Galway could suit

Hi

It was the 17-19 May. I think we may go for the Manchester Aer Lingus option.

How long roughly does the bus take from Shannon?

Would a taxi be an option, or probably too expensive?

I am so glad I checked on here before booking from Liverpool!

7. Re: Best airport to use?

Hi Laura, the bus journey from Shannon to Galway takes just under two hours.

A cab would cost €125, according to the Shannon Airport website.

The bus is really quite convenient and drops you right in the centre of Galway city.

The bus from SNN to Galway is the 51 the bus from Knock to Galway is the 64

You could fly in via Knock and out from Shannon (there is an extra €10 charge to leave from Knock) if you decide on Ryanair

Hi Everyone,

After looking at all the options I now think Liverpool to Knock would be best, as most friendly flight times.

Is the bus quite easy to locate from Knock airport and does it take just under 2 hours to get to Galway, like from Shannon?

Thanks so much for all your help...

The bus stop is 20yards up infront of the terminal. travel time will be a couple of hours. You will have to check the 64 bus or journey planner on Bus Eirann
