As someone who lives in a major tourist destination (Orlando, FL) I get asked a version of the same question all the time. The question usually starts with, "if you could ONLY do one thing...." and concludes with a question about the one theme park, one restaurant or one bar I would take someone to in Orlando if they were only going to be here for one day or night. Over the years I've developed two answers for almost every question asked. Answer (a) is my "tourist" answer. This answer directs the person to my favorite place off of a list of expected answers/options. As an example, if I'm asked for a restaurant recommendation I'll always offer a suggestion in the tourist area near Disney. I feel like it is the expected answer and still a valid suggestion because I really am recommending something that I like.
Answer (b) is what I consider my "locals" answer. This answer may not be in the top 50 Tripadvisor restaurant, bars or things to do list. However, I'd be recommending it because it's a place that I'm always pleased with and is uniquely Orlando.
So my question is this:
If you had friends coming into town, who had never been to Dublin before and were only staying one night, where would you take them for dinner, drinks and a night on the town? "Tourist" or "Locals" answers are appreciated. (I purposely didn't include any other parameters like budget, area of town or our ages because I'd love to hear where you would take your friends!)
