First visit to Ireland and had planned 5 days based in Dublin. Now, office is asking me to take a meeting in Cork, which sounds like a good opportunity to see a little more of the countryside. That said, hotel is already booked and paid in Dublin for the whole trip so trying to avoid an overnight elsewhere, but open to it. Looks like most of the direct flights from Dublin to Cork have been stopped, and I've heard there have been road improvements that make the trip 2.5 hours give or take from Dublin to Cork so it seems like a wash to drive vs. fly into alternate airport. If driving, I'd probably leave very early am with the goal of arriving in Cork late morning and completing meeting by lunchtime. Hate the idea of being "so close" to the ring of Kerry and not seeing it - is it viable to drive back the long way so to speak via Kerry to Dublin? Other option would be to fly into Kerry round trip, hire car at the airport and drive to Cork and around the area for the day, returning late evening. Would be grateful for any advice.
