I'm thinking of staying at the mayfield for a couple of days. Can someone tell me how for it is from the airport and how much a taxi would be.

Also is it near any shops or night life.

Hi - do you mean Hayfield Manor? Great property - but a little bit away from nightlife.

It will cost you about €20 from the airport, depending on time of day, What time of day are you arriving? It's about 6 miles from the airport.

I think it is the only 5 star hotel in Cork City at the moment.

Once there it is a good 20 minute walk to city centre, but taxis would be plentiful and cost about €6 - again depending on time of day. (About a 5 minute trip) It's 15 mins walk to the nightlife on Washington street which is very popular.

All the shops are in Patrick Street and Oliver Plunkett street (and all connecting streets there). As I said it's 20 minutes walk.

Have you considered the Clarion which is city centre, well about 5 mins walk?

I get the impression that money is no object?

It depends on how badly you want to be near the shopping and the nightlife. If you want to be 5 mins walk from shopping and nightlife then it's the Clarion. http://www.clarioncork.com/

If you want absolute luxury and not to be too near the shopping and nightlife then it's Hayfield Manor www.hayfieldmanor.ie

The Clarion would be a lot cheaper, it's 4star while Hayfield is 5star.

Have a look at the website and then decide.

2pm is a good time to get in to Cork airport. It's not peak . If you have to collect your bags from the carousel, you should still be at your hotel by about 3pm or just after it.
