I visited Taymouth in early May of this year. I purposefully drove from Edinburgh where I was staying to Taymouth as I specifically wanted to see the castle. I had written to the property developer from back home (Australia), but got no reply. I have a particular interest in gothic architecture, and the renovation work that has occurred. Anyway, I plucked up the courage to drive inside the grounds and parked right out the front of the castle (the hotel). There was no-one around, but I had a quick look and took some photos. I also went into the grounds from the back entrance to get another perspective of the castle. I enquired at the local shop about the lack of activity at the castle and was told that the property developer is looking for someone (rather a company) to take over and fit out the remainder of the castle to their specifications, but they can't find anyone at the moment!
Definitely worth a visit, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. When I got back to Edinburgh I told my husband that he missed a fantastic day's drive.
