There is indeed a Debenhams in Glasgow, but you could probably do better than that for choice.

There are a number of wedding shops in the city centre who do bridesmaids/prom dresses. Roberta Buchan, for one has a selection of these. If chain stores are what you are looking for, there is a John Lewis, BHS, Debenhams and M&S but I suspect you can get most of these in Aberdeen.

A friend of mine bought a prom dress in Glasgow's TJ Maxx for just £12 last week, so that's worth a look too!

There is a shop called Catherines of Partick on Dumbarton Road, Partick if you want to venture to the west end - it has occasion wear for all ages. The nearest underground stop to that is Kelvinhall just a few moments walk, or the numbers 9 or 62 first buses will stop almost opposite it from the city centre.

Happy hunting!

I would look in TKMaxx first. Their prom dresses are very reasonably priced.

I think you should have been shopping in the last few weeks - whilst with the GF in the sales the likes of Monsoon & JL had lots of prom style dresses

Hi Lesley

2 TK Maxx's in the city centre, one in St Enoch's shopping centre and one on Sauchiehall Street.

The Underground would be the best way to get out to Catherines, get off at Kelvinhall, turn left when you come out the station onto Dumbarton Road, cross Byres Road and it is on the left hand side, less than 5 min walk from station

( Hopefully I'm thinking of the right place !! - somebody will correct me if I'm wrong )

Thats exactly where Catherines of Partick is. There is also a TKMaxx at The Fort, which is off the M8. I think its at junction 14 or thereabout.

Directions to Catherines I could not put better myself!

TK Maxx - the Sauchiehall one is better, tbh, slightly less disorganised.

If vintage prom dresses could be on your agenda, there are a few places off Byres Road that you could try, down Ruthven Lane. Take the Underground up to Byres Road and Ruthven Lane is directly opposite the station.

There is also a vintagey shop just a few doors down from Catherines, to the left as you come out the shop.

Also worth looking at: Wish, 266 Clyde Street and another few listed here: promdress.co.uk/dresses/counties/Glasgow.htm

As well as catherines its worth having a look in Starry Starry Night - the vintage shop in ruthven lane - they have some gorgeous dresses from country house auctions - the best ones are wrapped in protective bags to the left as you go in. The underground station (hillhead) is just the next stop up from kelvinhall so you can easily go there and catherines in one journey.

Happy hunting!
