What budget do you have in mind? What kind of facilities do you require? Hotel Indigo was my first thought but no idea if this is the type of place you would be looking for?

You could consider the Carlton George on West George St. It's ideally placed, 2 mins walk from Queen St train station, 10 mins from Central. The subway /underground (can never remember which one they call it!) is a minutes walk away. The Buchanan Galleries shopping centre is 5 minutes away, and the hotel is on the corner of the Style Mile with Sauchiehall St a few minutes away. Windows Restaurant is usually fairly good, but due to the fantastic central location of the hotel there are any number of alternative eateries within a 10 minute walk. If your budget allows go for a club room which gives access to the executive lounge. The extra you pay on the room rate is well worth it as you can go to the lounge for complimentery tea and coffee all day, and alcoholic drinks after 5pm.

Glaswegians always refer to it as the Subway despite the operators trying for years to brand it as the Underground. They have now seen sense and even the signage states Subway.

Apologies - i was introduced to it, and have always known it, as the clockwork orange, but thought that may be a little obscure for visitors!
