Hotel in the City????

Hi,

I haven't been in glasgow for years and im just wondering if anyone could tell me where the best places to stay around the city centre are? There will be six of us going and we wanted to stay as close to the night life and shops as possible. any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

The Hilton near Charing Cross is very nice if money is not an option. It is near Sauchiehall Street which has a lot of night life on it.

I'd go for the Premier Travel Inn, George St - or the Millennium Hotel on George Square (this one's a bit more expensive but you can sometimes get good deals).

Just to point out though, following the post above - The Hilton is not on Charing Cross. It's on William St, right by the M8 motorway and not the ideal location for a group looking to be close to the nightlife. Granted, it's a beautiful hotel, but if you're looking for a base from which to explore the bars and nightlife, you're better looking elsewhere.

The Premier Travel Inn is right next to the Merchant City which is a fantastic place for bars and restaurants, and it's only a 2 min walk from George Square. From here you can wander to Royal Exchange Square (for great restaurants, bars and clubs), Buchanan St (for shops), Argyle St (more shops), Bath St (bars and clubs), and you can hop on the Underground at Buchanan St Station and explore the West End (an absolute MUST - great for a bite to eat and a drink in some more quirky establishments).

It's also only a £4-5 taxi ride, or a 15 min walk, from George St up to Sauchiehall St, for yet more bars, restaurants, shops and clubs!

You'll be spoiled for choice!

:o)

Hi, I'd agree with the hotels mentioned by clarabubs and also maybe try Marks Hotel on Bath Street for a good location, Bath St has lots of great bars and is very near all the shopping streets. This hotel and the ones by clarabubs are also all ok to walk home to after a night out, fairly busy streets so no worries about walking home down a dark quiet street.

There is also the Premier Travel Inn at Charing Cross, top of Sauchiehall St. Good Value and fairly central if the other one is full.

By the way have you thought of getting an apartment in say the west end. Might be a cheaper option if there are six of you. Cant recommend any but try googling them. I stay in apartments wherever possible now as it gives you more freedom and can work out better. And you don't have to get up early for brekkie.
