Where to stay centrally located to pubs and attractions?

We are traveling to Europe on our honeymoon and decided to add Edinburgh to our list at the last minute and are looking for hotel or B&B recommendations for 4 nights. We would like to spend between $100-200 USD and be located close to the attractions and pubs. Any suggestions? Cheers!

When will you be coming?

Choices for the next 2-3 weeks are much different than they will be post-Festival.

We'll be there Sept. 13-18th - is that after the festival?

Yes, the Festival ends on Sunday, September 4th.

You should still book soon as the beginning of September can busy. The only warning is that some restaurants may be closed as they tend to take their holidays after the Festival is over.

I'm not sure about prices, but the Apex on Grassmarket is nice - especially since Grassmarket will be quieter then, and there's also a nice hotel on the Royal Mile at Northbrige (can anyone remember what it is...?)
