Going out...

Can anyone help and suggest a few different bars/clubs for my visit to Edinburgh in April 2013 with my partner.

We are two females (mid-to late twenties) who like to visit a variety of nice places:

Looking for -

a. classy bars where we can hear each other speak ;)

b. possibilty of some real ale pubs with character

c. some unusual non tourist places that we can really admire Edinburgh delights

d. a good place to rock out to (indie/rock club)

Not picky at all, huh?! Haha - but if anyone has any suggestions please advise...

Thankyou.

- I like Monteiths on Canongate. Busy at weekends but otherwise you can get a quiet word in! Great atmosphere and some interesting cocktails.

b. possibilty of some real ale pubs with character.

The Antiquary in Stockbridge, step down into a great little 'old man pub'.

The Old Bell on Causewayside.

Sandy Bells by Grey Friars Bobby.

c. some unusual non tourist places that we can really admire Edinburgh delights

The Canny Man's in Morningside, just dress appropriately!

d. a good place to rock out to (indie/rock club)

- not my area of expertise...

Enjoy!

In addition to suggestions above - also Bow Bar (Old Town), Guildford Arms or Cafe Royal (New Town), Cloisters (Tollcross), Stockbridge Tap (Stockbridge) or for somewhere modern with good real ale: Holyrood 9A (Old Town) Red Squirrel; Hanging Bat (both Lothian Road) and the newly opened Vintage Bar (Leith): thebeercast.com/2013/03/vintage-leith.html Teuchters Landing in Leith is also good especially if it's sunny as you sit outside by the water.

Also see thebeercast.com/category/edinburgh-beer for any special events.

for c) see if there is anything on at the Caves perhaps? www.thecavesedinburgh.com/music_clubs.htm

Hi, a really nice bar is the club room at the Dome. The Halfway House is a nice proper pub too.

A good place to rock out - jump on the train to Glasgow and hit the Cathouse!

If you want to stay in Edinburgh Opium seems to be the place to go (but to be honest I have never been)
