Has anyone stayed in The Glenora Hotel , The Novatel in the centre of Edinburgh or The Inverleith guest house opp botanic gardens ? I am thinking of booking one of these for a weekend in Dec for a romantic break for me and my partner, we want walking distance from the centre but far enough away at night to be peaceful, I need to get a move on or they will be booked up.

I stayed at the Glenora Hotel last October; it is a 10-minute walk from the centre of the city. Nice easy journey from the airport, the airport bus stops at the end of the road, close to Haymarket Stn. Very nice hotel in a period building (actually a 4* guest house) run by charming and welcoming people; comfortable rooms; delicious organic breakfast (way too much food on offer!) and nice organic toiletries in the rooms. Last October was pretty chilly and the central heating was on. Would definitely recommend.
