If you are visiting Gatehouse of Fleet then its a good place to find quaint and sleepy towns and villages. I think you need to do a bit of research and a good place to start (apart from reading the trip reports, overviews and inside pages on Tripadvisor) would be to check out: They are two of the most popular websites with forumites to start their searches, and a great resource for accomodation details. You could also check out the Trip Reports written by previous visitors to get some inspiration. They make for a very entertaining read.

Hi. We just got back from 19 days in scotland and loved it. Is there a reason for picking Gatehouse of Fleet.? Will you be driving? The reason I ask is some of the places you mention will require quite a bit of driving from GOF. Also in my extensive research of B&Bs it is very rare to get king beds. For 2 people travelling together I would recommend getting a room with twin beds. Cheers

Some quaint towns worth a vist include Falkland (near St Andrews,Culross in Fife, Dunkeld and Kenmore in Perthshire plus Gairloch in Highlands, drive via Loch Maree for a fantastic loch (better than Loch Ness in my view). Also Oban is lovely and is a fishing port with lots of ferries to the Isles. IF you're ging to St Andrews drive via the Fife Coast (east Neuk) of Fife which is full of lovely little fishing villages. Enjoy!
