Glendavan House

Hello all

Just booked for a 4 night stay at Glendavon House, which is in a place called Dinnet. Has anyone stayed in this area and can offer any tips / places to visit ?

Thanks

So you will be staying not far from me then. Good choice :-)

I don't know what your interests are but these websites should help get you started on places to visit and things to do. This area is good for outdoor pursuits stalking, fishing, walking, mountain biking, gliding. Visiting castles and distilleries are good too. If you want further info then just PM me.

When are you staying at Glendavan House?

Hi and thanks for the reply,

We're staying from 17th - 21st Sept which covers both my wife's Birthday and is just after our 20th wedding anniversary, so its a duel purpose trip.

I definately like the idea of distilleries.

September can be lovely here weather-wise, so I hope that is the case for you this year. I wondered about the dates because I thought they might coincide with a highland games, but I see that will not happen. Never mind, there are plenty of things in the Aberdeenshire area to keep you occupied.

Enjoy your trip.

Royal Deeside is a beautiful area and has some very varied walks if you like walking. September is a lovely time with lots of Autumn colours the hills will be rich purple as the heather is in bloom. Between Aboyne and Dinnet you will find Glen Tanner which is a nice walk ,then out from Ballater you can walk in Glen Muick along to Loch Muick. If you drive further on to Braemar down past Mar Lodge and past Linn of Dee some easy walking tracks that take you into the hills where you will find beautiful scenery .Do take suitable clothing in case of bad weather and also suitable footwear for walking these tracks .There are car parks at the start of these walks..

If walking isn't your thing then you are in castle country so some very interesting castles and gardens to visit.

Have a lovely time.
