train route from London Heathrow to Coventry

I am going to have a training course. Would you help me how to go by train / tube from London Heathrow Airport to Coventry? Is it cheaper to use Oyster Card?

You can't use Oyster card to get to Coventry but you can use it on the Underground part of your journey.

Piccadilly Line to Green Park, Victoria Line to Euston where you can get the main line train to Coventry.

Book tickets in advance and allow 3-4 hours between landing and getting to Euston. www.nationalrail.co.uk

You could also look at a coach to Coventry www.nationalexpress.co.uk

Oyster Card only works in the London area, it isn't a nationwide scheme so does not cover Coventry.

To get from Heathrow Airport to Coventry, you can get the Underground to London Euston (change at Green Park), then train to Coventry. Unusually there is a choice of operators on this route. Virgin Trains runs every 20 minutes and do the journey in just over an hour with one stop en-route. London Midland rune every 30 minutes; has cheaper fares but is considerably slower. On both routes you can get off-peak singles and returns, which are walk-up fares and can be bought at the time of departure. Advance fares are also available, but probably not a good idea on this route because of possible airport delays and the frequency of the service - Advance fares are non-flexible and non-refundable. Look at www.nationalrail.co.uk to get an idea of times and prices.

The other option is to take the direct National Express coach from Heathrow Airport to Coventry. Coaches serve Terminal 5 and Central Bus Station (for Terminals 1 and 3). You can buy a ticket from the National Express counter at Central Bus Station, or in the Arrivals hall at Terminal 5, and get on the next coach. You can also buy a ticket online; of you miss your coach go to the National Express counter and you will be rebooked onto the next one; you may have to pay the Amendment fee which is £5.

If you arrive at T4 there is a free bus service to the Central Bus Station where the coaches leave from.

If you take the coach it will drop you at Pool Meadow Bus Station in the city centre. From there you can either get the bus or taxi from outside bus station. The number 2 or 900 bus stops outside the hotel. Or it's a short ride in a taxi.

The hotel is a 10 min walk into city centre but unfortuately the bus station is the other end of the city centre and therefore a 20-25 minute walk.

It would cost £1.70 on bus per person (you would need correct money for bus. No change given) or it would be about £5.00 for a taxi. A taxi will be the best option with luggage.

If you arrive at Heathrow you can always take the National Express coach to Coventry. It is a direct service and takes around 2hrs. 15minutes. The bus leaves from right outside the terminal, so its very easy! The route number is either 210 or240... the website for bookings is www.nationalexpress.com

Actually, come to think, if you arrive at Terminal 5 Heathrow, theres a ticket office right in Arrivals so you could even buy a ticket there.
