Nice hotel near "TOWN HALL"

We will be attending a show at the TOWN HALL in BIRMINGHAM and want to book a hotel nearby---we will arrive by train, so will not have a car but can take a taxi

We would appreciate some imput from those of you familiar with Birmingham -- We have considered both the HILTON HAMPTON INN ON BROAD STREET and the HOTEL LA TOUR ON ALBERT STREET--both receive great reviews on Trip Advisor-

HOW CONVENIENT WOULD THESE BE TO THE THEATRE? THANKS FOR ANY HELP

You cannot go wrong with The Crowne Plaza or Hyatt Regency at a little more money !

I'm a fan of Malmaison (in the Mailbox) and Hotel Indigo (in the Cube) although both are contemporary/trendy. They have good restaurants with Marco Pierre White's steakhouse at the very top of the Cube with incredible views.

Again these hotels are walkable to the Town Hall or a 2 minute taxi ride.

Cheaper alternative would be the Premier Inn just opposite the Cathedral. Easy 3 minute walk across Victoria Square

Hi,

The Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre is also a very nice hotel, very close to all of the main attractions and new street train station.

There is also a new hotel in The Cube buidling called Hotel Indigo the rooftop bar there is a must see - you can visit even if you do not end up staying there. It also has a gym & pool for guests.

You could try Hotel Du Vin on Church Street. Its in a very nice part of town.

A bit of local history you might be interested in. Apparently the Burlington Hotel is where Enoch Powel did his 'Rivers of Blood' speach! If you do stay here there is an excellant basement pub below the hotel called Bacchus Bar (named after the Greek god of wine). It is the most unusaly bar I have ever been in. There are suits of medieval armour, and Egyption runes on the walls. You must check it out!
