Might be worth checking Travelodge - but note their cheap deals cannot be altered or cancelled.

There are some B&B's along Hagley Road, which is just 10 mins from the City Centre, so may be worth trying some of those

But at £20 think you may be struggling, both for numbers of hotels selling rooms at that price and quality

Wherever you do end up I certainly wouldn't recommend any of the cheap B&Bs on Hagley Road. The vast majority of them are run down seedy looking places that I wouldn't recommend to any teenage girls.

What about trying nitenite? Most rooms are £50 per night which, if you don't mind sharing a bed could be worth it (I also understand that if you book in advance some rooms are around £15). The hotel is modern, chic and in very good part of city centre. However, be warned, the rooms are TINY and don't have windows!

For info, the University of Bham is in the Selly Oak / Edgbaston area (not sure if there are any B&Bs round there), whilst most of the Central England Uni Campus is around the City Centre.

Neither would I stay there, but if anyone can only afford £20 between them, then people should expect £20 worth of quality

There is a Formule 1 hotel in Bordesley - around 1 mile from the City Centre. There is a bus stop outside which takes you into town for about 50p or a taxi would only be a few pounds.

I have never stayed there, but it is only £25.00 per night for a double and owned by Accor Hotel group (same people who own Novotel).

Like people have said previously, you get what you pay for!

We stayed there at the weekend, and it was absolutely fine. There's a Sainsbury's across the road for cheap food.
