Newcastle Stag do - February

I am organising a stag do in Newcastle, can anyone give me some ideas for good spots to go to in the evenings?

Also any suggestions for suitable events for the daytime would be appreciated! We are heading to the racecourse on the Friday, has anyone been?

Thanks

Gareth

Gosforth Park is a great day out, particularly for the big meetings such as Northumberland Plate weekend. Easy to get to, plenty of buses

Been mentioned on here a few times but Osborne Road in Jesmond is a very popular area to start off, then a quick taxi ride into town later on

The Gate is a good venue to hit during the daytime has a few bars, places to eat and a casino the atmosphere is good. The evening has to be spent also at the gate where the clientiel changes the places gets wilder then just bar crawl in the many bars down to the Big Market. You will have a fab time. Howay the lads.

I'd say go to Jesmond before town for predrinks but unless you want to spend your night with only stag and hen dos, and older men, avoid the gate like the plague. You'll see people stumbling and falling down outside by 10pm, when everyone else is going out. Also avoid the bigg market unless you're after a pint and a fight, no atmosphere, chavs and expensive drinks. Try the diamond strip, or mushroom for popular bars. If you fancy going to clubs there are certain events on, on a saturday the biggest ones are Love at Digital, Voodoo at Riverside, Jembix at LQ and Mdnght at Bambu

Hi Gareth,

I'm organising a stag-do in Newcastle this May. How did you get on with yours? Any top tips about where to go. We're staying at the Quayside. Go-karting Sat pm, then into the bars/clubs Sat eve.

Any advice welcome!

Sam

It would seem that most stag and hen do's end up in The Bigg Market and The Gate and the area in between, simply because it's convenient - there's loads of bars in one place. I wouldn't drink there (as a local) because it attracts a rougher crowd, but in all honesty it could well be suitable for what you're after - they'll be quite happy for the stag to come in dressed as a women, all of that caper.

Outside of that you've got a few choices; The Quayside (was stag do central, but is a bit quiet these days - still a decent choice), "The Diamond Strip" (expensive, caters for weekend millionaires - say no more), Grey Street (more civilised and sophisticated, could happily take the missus there) - all of these areas aren't going to take kindly to an uncivilised stag do like The Bigg Market and The Gate.

Central Station is mixed bag of bars, nicer than The Gate and The Bigg Market and probably won't mind typical stag do antics too much.

To be fair, there's a reason why the stag do's end up in The Bigg Market and The Gate, it's convenient and it's acceptable to act irresponsibly. My advise would be have a think about what kind of night it's going to be and pick accordingly.

Hi,

A few years ago we went to Newcastle and i'm trying to remember a bar for a mate who is there at the minute. I think it was near to the Gate.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it had a few strippers on. The girls got the stags up and embarrassed them giving them a spanking etc. Has anyone any ideas? I'm sure it had 2 floors and the show/embarrassment was upstairs.

Thanks
