We are looking for somewhere absolutely special for our one night honeymoon and dinner. We've booked provisionally at La Manoir qux Quatre Saisons but wonder how the price (plus£700 D.D.B) can possibly be justified for the non millionaire class of person i.e. us.

We're both the wrong side of 50 and are committed foodies, with a taste for lovely places. Ideally we would like to drive less then 1 to 2 hours from home which is near Weybridge, in Surrey.

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Gribbly

My husband stayed in Pennyhill Park, Bagshot with work -he said it was fabulous (He stays quite regulalry at Horseguards near Embankment and it is much better than this hotel)

He enjoys a good meal. I think it was here that he said the have a really beautiful spa, a billiards room - it certainly looks good on the website - they've got sample menus as well.

They seem to have an offer of £100 for B&B. Either way, I think you'll have a brilliant night

If you haven't already decided on anywhere, I second the recommendation for Penny Hill Park in Bagshot. It's a beautiful building in lovely grounds and the rooms are very luxurious. There are two restaurants - one a little more formal than the other but both are very good. I'm sure you would enjoy it.
