Some where to eat near The butter market

Hi my daughter and her friends are going to see a band at The Butter market (Haward Street)' Her farther and I are being taxi .We will have a long time to kill say from 5pm till 10.30pm. We thought we could have a walk and a look around the town as we've never been before then something to eat and then I Surpose well have to sit in a pub nursing a couple of cokes till their ready to be collect . So we are looking for somewhere near to eat and kill a few hours. We don't really won't anything posh or expensive but also would like something tasty and somewere that chill for a few hour . Any ideas

Not a bad recommendation at all, but there's a pretty good thread on this very topic that gets updated from time to time on this Shrewsbury forum page.

Assuming that you haven't already been, Shrewsbury is quite small and almost everywhere is in easy walking distance from the Buttermarket. If it is a week night, The Loggerheads pub which is maybe 10 minutes away specialise in sausages and mash, with several different types of both products on offer. To my shame I've never tried them yet, because I normally end up in there only on Saturday nights, when they don't serve food or on Sunday lunchtime when they do a good value Sunday lunch.

Cromwells is just down the hill from there - a bit more expensive perhaps but IMO better than The Armoury, mentioned above, though The Armoury is also good and has a nice position alongside the Severn.

There is always Wetherspoons, of course (the Shrewsbury Hotel) for a 'know what to expect' experience.
