London Vacation |
|
We are two families frantically planning a Spring Break vacation to London. We have 5 teen agers and are looking for suggestions on areas to stay in London that would be fun with lots of restaurants and easy walking distance to lots of atractions. We have been searching web sites for a weekly rental for 1 large (sleeps 9) or 2 2 bedroom apartments. Suggestions welcome. Any suggestions on colleges, day trips out of London, or Harry Potter tours to recommend. Report as inappropriate |

Hello, and welcome to the forum. First off, I'm going to suggest that you have a look at my Sticky on page 1 for websites that will help you plan your trip according to your interests. There is also a list of flat-rental companies that have been recommended by users of the forum. There is no shortage of day trips that you can take by train: Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Brighton, Canterbury, Windsor, Portsmouth, Hampton Court, Warwick, Rye, even as far north as York. You can also do escorted day trips by coach. Again, you'll need to do a bit of research and see which place appeals to all of you the most. Have a look at these previous threads: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k43715… tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k40067… tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k45162… tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k42708… For Harry Potter tours, you can use the search function on this forum to find info. Just type in 'Harry Potter tour'. There are tours available if you Google too, though the ones I've seen are expensive. However, there is a walking tour now that apparently includes HP: go to http://www.walks.com/ for details. What info would you like re: colleges? Neighbourhoods in which to stay: Kensington, Notting Hill, South Kensington, Bloomsbury - these are some to consider, but by no means definitive. Once you've done a bit of research and have narrowed down your choices, we can help you with specific advice. Hope this gets you started. Report as inappropriate | ||||||

Dear Oregon travel , I just returned from our 1st trip to London with my 15 year old daughter who is a big Harry Potter fan. We took a 10 hour Harry Potter tour with London Taxi tour www.londontaxitour.com and had such a fantastic experience that I wanted to tell you about it. We were driven in a London taxi to Lacock, Oxford and sites in London by Gordon who is extremely knowledgeable about Harry Potter and the filming of the movies. We saw a 12th century abbey in a beautiful small town outside of London, got to see Oxford and special sights in London. It was the highlight of our entire trip ( frankly Im not in to Harry Potter myself but enjoyed the un-touristy sights and felt privileged to have had the experience) Hope this information is useful to you.
