Escorted tour companies - Europe

Frenz, As a family of three (with a 11yr old daughter) we plan visiting 7-8 countries in europe in March 2011, I know which is months ahead. We are looking at a 12 day tour which begins in London.

My question is

a) Reputable escort tour companies catering to asian meals

b) What would the weather be like in March.

c) countries to be included in this trip

Would appreciate folks in this forum to help out

Thanks

Melwyn

Have you contacted any travel agents in your own country? Since you want to have "asian" meals, I would think your best chance would be a tour arranged from your own country or one nearby.

7-8 countries in 12 days means you'll spend the majority of your time on a coach. Are you sure that's what you want?

The "asian meals" request is very tricky unless you can find a tour full of your own countrypeople organised near where you live as Clemrick says, because generally these sort of tours will use one or two hotels per rest stop, and that will be a local hotel serving local food. Its possible some will have some vaguely asian items on the menu. But perhaps better to eat the local food so it feels more like you are visiting that country?

As to recommending the countries, I'd recommend you only visit perhaps 3 or 4 countries , lets say fly into London then Paris-Somewhere (Florence? Venice?)-Rome fly back (rather than fly into and out of the same country. That sort of itinerary would be easy to organise yourself and give you some time to spend a couple of days in each city and get a decent chance to explore rather than just for a few hours.

Otherwise there are far too many possible tours and countries, I suggest you post some here that *you* like the look of (since there is no point people posting itineraries you may reject as not fitting the sort of things you like) and ask what people think of the company/itinerary.

The weather in March across the whole of Europe is far too variable and unknown to make any responsible suggestions other than to say its unlikely to be warmer that 15- 20C anywhere and it may be considerably colder than that.

EDIT: The two companies that Nuriopta suggests are well known but the second has a typo it should be http://www.cosmos.com/

Unless you and your family speak Italian, it would make more sense to look for an escorted tour departing from London. Here are more websites to look at -

www.shearings.com

www.leger.co.uk

www.travelsphere.co.uk

Obtaining asian-type meals will not be a problem. At the start of the tour, tell your tour manager (who escorts you throughout) about your dietary requirements and he/she should ensure that you will be offered something appropriate for those meals included in the tour price (usually all breakfasts and some evening meals). For non-included meals - such as lunch stops en route - he/she should be able to direct you towards a suitable restaurant.

The real problem will be finding a tour of 12 days duration in March. There are a few offered - mostly short city breaks or the "Winter Wonderland" type - but, generally, the season for touring Europe does not start until Easter as March is usually cold and damp and blustery throughout Northern Europe.

The most likely countries to be visited in the course of one tour, starting from London, are England (from London to a Channel port, that is), France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg - possibly Germany and Switzerland.

As you mentioned Rome - have you considered visiting Italy instead of touring Europe? The weather would be mild and the 12 days split agreeably between Rome and Florence and, perhaps, Sorrento or Bergamo or wherever interests you.

Hello all.

I have been campaigning for a while for trip advisor to start a forum for escorted tours.

I believe such a forum should center on overnight tours to a single country or multiple countries. My idea is that they should be segregated by are, i.e. Tour Forum-Europe, Tour Forum-Asia, Tour Forum-Africa, etc.

I think this would be a great forum for people to get ideas and inspiration, and compare notes with fellow travelers.

This would NOT include the day tours that many travelers can take for a few hours once they arrive in their destination.

If you have 12 days in total then consider say London and Paris for a week each, Barcelona and Madrid for a week each, Rome and Florence for a week each.. You get the drift. If you include travel time it may be a full 12 days. These days it is not always necessary to involve a travel agent. If you mean Indian food by Asian Food then there are Indian Restaurants in every major country in Europe. Involve your daughter in the decision process and see what she comes up with. The weather woukld be cold for you guys and you need layering and jackets. What exactly are your interests taking all of you together. ?.
