 London with Teenage Boys

Any ideas for activites in London and/or within 1 hour of London for 3 families with a total of of 5 boys aged 10 - 15? We are happy to get on a train to go somewhere or stay in the city. The boys are active and prefer to stay away from museums but an actual castle could be OK. The trip is in late November. We have already been to London Dungeon, it was a hit.

We took our kids to London at that age and they loved it. Consider the following:

The Tower of London- as said good armor and weapons and great storytelling by the Beefeaters

Windsor Castle (25-30 min. by train from Paddington Station)- again- good displays

Covent Garden Market and/or Greenwich Market on a Sunday- on some days we had to drag our kids out-they loved the old rock and roll and movie vendors and our daughter wouldn't leave the second-hand jewelery stalls!

Dover- take the train from Victoria Station (I think it's about 1 1/2 hour ride). Interesting castle and all the World War II connections.

An hour away from London?

Go to the Milton Keynes snow dome. Let them have a 2 hour boarding (or skiing) lesson (real snow). Then take them to Airkix to do indoor sky diving (brilliant fun) and then follow that up with the climbing wall there.

I guess it depends if you ski regularly or not. If you don't then it's definitely worth it. Actually, even if you do it will get them hyped up for their upcoming ski trip (I'm going there at the weekend I think). The Airkix is the thing that will blow their mind though. If you are 'boring' them for a few days sightseeing then I don't think you can beat what I have suggested.

Closer to London you could take them to the karting track in Streatham (indoors) - they are 'proper' karts not 'boring 'safety' type of carts you often see in N. America.

The only other thing I can think of is Go Ape but it may be a bit cold!!

The ski place is Xscape

Dont miss this. definately go on a fat tyre bike tour. you wont believe how good it is!! You'll love it and the kids will love it. It takes about 4 hours with a half-hour break for lunch. Mostly you travel through the royal parks, but these boys are so good you get right up close and personal to all the london major sights. Perfectly safe and reasonably priced, check it out on T.A. its the number 1 thing to do. have fun.
