I'm left a bit confused by previous posts that seem to contradict one another.

Can anyone verify that a 1 Day Travelcard purchased from an Underground Station can be used for the 2 for 1 offers.

Some people like local expert TravellerPlus say that it can, others say you must have the rail logo and purchase the Travelcard from a main railway station ticket office only.

The 2 for 1 web site is unhelpful, just saying Travelcards are accceptable within the context of rail ticketing only, but goes onto say 'most' train tickets with the rail logo are acceptable.

Can anyone verify that a 1 Day Travelcard purchased at an Underground station has the rail logo or has actually used such a ticket purchased from an Underground ticket office to obtain the 2 for 1 discounts.

I'm pretty sure that a one day travelcard purchased at an underground station will have the rail logo on it and will be valid for offers.

Not 100% sure though as I haven't bought one for ages.

Rail Travelcard - www.flickr.com/photos/murky/24638148/ - with 'crows feet' logo.

Underground Travelcard - …cocolog-nifty.com/blog/…travelcard.jpg - no rail logo.

Who knows?

You could email them and ask directly and let us know the outcome.

jdbri - took your advice and received this (very quick) answer from the 2 for 1 people. However its still evading the key point.

"Your travelcard will only be valid if it has a National rail element to it. An Off Peak Day travelcard purchased at a National Rail station (allowing use on tube, trains and buses), will for example be valid with our 2for1 offers."

Beginning to think that Travelcards issued at Underground Stations are not valid for these offers.

I think the key question remains ...

Do Travelcards issued at Underground Stations have the rail logo ?

Do Travelcards issued at Underground Stations have the rail logo ? - NO

Your travelcard will only be valid if it has a National rail element to it - but all paper travelcards wherever issued allow train travel within the zones they are valid for.

Just checking I've got this right...

We're travelling from Derby to London so will have a (one-way) National Rail ticket. Is that ticket only valid for 2for1 offers on the day we arrive?

Also we're staying with a friend south of the centre, and will have to get a train in to see the sights. If I buy a 3 day travel card from the train station, rather than from an Underground station when we arrive, it'll be valid for 2for1?

I thought the 2for1 website was pretty unhelpful too!

I had a 7 day paper travelcard from Paddington with the crows foot on it recently BUT the three times we used it (Tower, Thames Clipper, London Dungeons), they didn't even ask to see it, all I needed was the voucher. I'm guessing that most of the clerks that sell tickets probably don't give a hoot whether you have a valid ticket or not and probably have never read through all the rules.

That being said I suppose if you want to be 100% certain, you could buy your travelcards at a National Rail desk (ie Paddington, Victoria, etc), you can buy 1 and 3 day travelcards in advance, I think it was up to 7 days in advance, just make sure you specify what days you are buying them for. And those should have the crows foot on them.

Have received a follow up from the 2 for 1 people clarifying and confirming that only paper Travelcards issued by a rail station with the rail logo are valid for the 2 for 1 offers.

Perhaps you could also add that to the other thread in case someone stumbles across it in the future and gets similarly confused?

The two for one offer is an atoc promo so you MUST buy the travelcard from a national rail station ticket office/online
